Words for Stan

Created by Pamela 3 years ago

At sad times people often use the cliché “There are no words” to describe how they are feeling.
For me there are lots of words:

Lucky - I feel so lucky to have been part of your life, to have shared so many good times.
Happy- you always made me smile, it was a joy to listen to the stories of your life, to sit in the garden or house (in Yeovil and Crewkerne) and laugh about silly things.
Memories- where to start! Our first meeting in Yeovil (1987) you lived opposite me and I passed your house most days pushing my baby son Stuart in his pram, doing the usual “please go to sleep” walk all new parents do. You always stopped to speak which in turn led to us becoming great friends. Then along came Lucy, how can I forget you and Judy being on night duty waiting for the call to come and sit with Stuart whilst I went to the hospital. Judy knocked my milk bottles down the steps, one way to wake the neighbours. From that moment onwards you had 2 extra adopted children. They loved being with you and sharing fun with you and your dog Meg.
Food- Shepherds pie followed by treacle sponge. Homemade cakes/biscuits. The only person I know who can only eat 2 chunks of chocolate from a bar and resist the rest.
Music- I still have a photo of you with Lucy at your piano she can only have been about 18 months old. The other cherished moment is you playing the ukulele alongside Lucy playing Stephen’s guitar. And of course, 2019 The Welsh choir oh what a joy to watch you clapping and singing along.
Privilege- it was a true privilege and honour to have known you.
Independent- at the age of 93 still doing everything for yourself. Only asking for help in later years.
Christmas- sharing the last 2 Christmases with you, one in lockdown, having Christmas dinner delivered by the church for us both.
Inspiration- You were and always will be an inspiration to me and my family.
Love you always and Forever.

Pam
